See What the USS Vengeance Almost Looked like in STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS Concept Art by Kasra Farahani and Tex Kadonaga
Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) concept art by Kasra Farahani |
One of the big set pieces in the film Star Trek Into Darkness is the massive unmarked Federation Dreadnought-class starship USS Vengeance also known as the "Dark Enterprise." It's "twice the size, ten times the firepower, and three times the speed" of any other star ship. "Unlike most Federation vessels, it's built solely for combat." Impressive. Two of the artists that helped design this masterpiece of Federation engineering are Kasra Farahani and Tex Kadonga.
Tetsuo 'Tex' Kadonaga is a professional 3D modeler, art director and production designer who's worked on big budget films like Night at the Museum (2006), The 6th Day (2000) and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006). Kasra Farahani is a professional concept illustrator, art director and production designer who's worked on Hollywood movies like Avatar (2008), Spider-Man 3 (2007) and and the unmade Bioshock film.

Designs were based on work by James Clyne and Ryan Church with an original set design by Andrew Reeder. One key part of the bridge design is that the ship can be completely controlled by one person.
