Spectacular Alternate THOR Concept Art by Kent Matheson

Thor (2011) concept art by Kent Matheson

Check out Thor concept art by Kent Matheson!

One of the striking scenes in the original Thor was when Thor gets his hammer and destroys the Asgardian Destroyer armor. The sky effects when Thor uses his hammer is spectacular, but they could have been even more powerful. Artist Kent Matheson shared some alternate designs on his site. Matheson is a professional concept artist who's worked on Hollywood movies like Avatar (2009), Superman Returns (2006) and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002).

  1. Concept art had more lightning and color, but the scene is still really amazing.

  2. Amazing artwork. Somehow the first film didn't work quite as well for me as the second.

  3. The concept art is much better than the actual scene. I loved Thor; they picked the perfect actor for the job. HOWEVER, as unpopular as this might be, I wasn't crazy about The Destroyer. I wish they had done him totally different.

  5. Ah, Maurice - you know the answer to that: "Poorly."
