Every Friday I feature artwork from a classic of science fiction cinema. This week's "Flashback Friday" post is on Alien (1979)

There are many great directors that are fine artists in their own right. Ridley Scott is one of those directors has done many storyboards and drawings for his films. Recently "Stan Winston School" released some storyboards of the chestburster scene on the school's Facebook page.

Ridley Scott is a professional film director who's worked on Hollywood films like Blade Runner (1982), Prometheus (2012) and Legend (1985).

The storyboard describes the scene:
"Creature punches of of [sic] Kane's chest. As it gets its bearings then it runs out of the light - disappears!"
