Exclusive: Exciting THOR: THE DARK WORLD Storyboards by Tom Nelson

Check out exclusive Thor: The Dark World storyboards by Tom Nelson!

The movie Thor: The Dark World is a huge success making over $600 million, but it's true success may lie in it's special effects. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has Thor: The Dark World on its shortlist of potential nominees for the Oscar for"Best Visual Effects." If it gets the nomination, it'll be the second Oscar nominated Marvel film after The Avengers.

Part of it's success is due to the tireless efforts of the special effects teams working with an army of pre-production artists. One such artist is Tom Nelson.

Nelson sent me four exclusive sets of storyboards: Asgardian prison attack by Kurse, the Dark Elf ship crash into Asgard and the Thor and Melkeith Fight.

Tom Nelson is a professional storyboard artist who's worked on big budget movies like Thor (2011)and Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008).

  1. I love seeing the story boards, and I enjoyed Thor as a whole movie. However, I must admit that my favorite scenes were the ones with humor - when Loki is Captain America, and when Thor is in the subway. :) However, one of my favorite scenes in Asgard is the one in which Frigga protects Jane.
Just a great movie all around, and the visual affects are stunning!

  2. Cool that it might get an Oscar nod.
I'm with Tyrean - the humorous parts with Loki were the best in the movie.

  3. I thought the Asgard cityscape shots in Thor were especially impressive - a visually stunning movie overall.

  4. Good point Rusty! I can't remember if we've ever seen him bleed. He's "nigh-invulnerable."
