Concept art for the Michael Bay Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle reboot has shown up online, thanks to Heritage Auctions. I've posted before about the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle film by Michael Bay called simply Ninja Turtles. Frankly, I'm glad it's been pushed to 2014.
Heritage describes the art as "grittier, less kid-friendly adventure, and to that end Kevin Eastman designed a more brutish, hardcore fifth Turtle, named for the legendary King of Comics (Jack Kirby)."
Here's what Kyle at Screen Rant said about the plot of the fourth film.

Supposedly, the fourth film was going to involve the Turtles and their allies undergoing “secondary” mutations that gave them new superpowers. These would have included Leonardo gaining the Colossus-like ability to coat himself in indestructible chrome; Donatello discovering telepathic and telekinetic powers; and Master Splinter growing into a hulking, combat-ready brawler. Some promotional materials for what was at the time an upcoming film also indicated that the movie might deal with parallel universes and science fiction technologies. And, of course, the film would have introduced another ninja turtle named for a famous artist, Kirby.Head for the jump to see the new turtle, the Foot soldiers with guns, new mutants and a NSFW image of "Evil April" (which I black-barred). While I think the project is misguided, Eastman' designs certainly capture the gritty feel of the original comics. Click on the images to enlarge.

Well, that second drawing says less kid-friendly to me!
ReplyDeleteMichael Bay - that means prepare for over the top special effects and explosions. Hopefully it comes with a plot as well.
Maurice, you and Nigel have a Happy New Year!
I think Kirby is cool warrior. His blade cuts speak for themselves! Happy New Year Maurice!
ReplyDeleteNeat. I particularly like the Kids in the Hall "Squish Your Head" reference.
ReplyDeleteGlad you caught that Joshua! I was thinking it might be my imagination.
