The cult film Super Mario Brio (1993) has very little concept art available even though its created by one of the most innovative artists in the field. French artist Patrick Tatopoulos from Underworld (2003), Stargate (1994) and Independence Day (1996) was lead creature designer on the film.
While I thought the movie didn't do the game justice, the visuals are amazing! Knowing it was done by Mr. Tatopoulos makes sense.
The movie gets a 13% from Rotten Tomatoes, but the fans are going strong! They even host screenings of the movie in different cities like New York.
One of the most dedicated fans is the owner of SMBmovie.com. He posted on a message board asking if anyone has concept art from the film. I thought I'd help out by posting what he has on his awesome site and putting the call out.
Patrick Tatopoulos' website isn't up yet, but it's at http://www.tatopoulosstudios.net/

Super Mario Bros. is a 1993 American action film directed by Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel. Based on the Super Mario Bros. video game and its entire franchise, the film features Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo, Dennis Hopper and Samantha Mathis. It tells the story of the Mario brothers, Mario and Luigi, as they find a parallel universe, where King Koopa is a dictator. They have to rescue Princess Daisy and stop Koopa from attempting to merge the dimensions so that he could become a dictator of both worlds.
Super Mario Bros. was released on May 28, 1993, and received mainly negative reviews. It was a box office bomb, recouping only $21 million of its $48 million budget. Despite this, the film was nominated for two Saturn Awards (one for Best Costume, the other for Best Make-up). - Wikpedia
