The future technology of the world included a floating wheelchair for Professor Xavier, a upgraded jet and a portable version of Cerebro. One of the artists that helped design items like this and more was Henry Fong.

  1. Sick, I still don't understand why X wasn't walking in the movie with his mind controlled exoskeleton suit that he uses in the comic.

  2. Well the idea is that he switches to a different body at the end of X3 and then consistently uses his powers to make everyone around him think he's still like his old self. So for a sense of comforting familiarity he projects the image of being in the chair. He might actually just be walking in real life.

  3. Interesting, that makes sense. Thank you robinthemind!

  4. No problem but I can't take credit for it. I've forgotten where I heard the theory first, but Simon Kinberg's interview with Empire (podcast) pretty much confirmed it as a semi-behind-the-scenes explanation.

Recommend that podcast episode, they really thought DOFP out exceptionally well. Way more than what you actually explicitly get told in the film itself. They actually involved James Cameron in the discussions about time travel and he gave the idea for time only changing upon observation. He also explains how it was absolutely NOT a populist decision to make wolverine the time traveler and far from their first choice. Cool trivia.

And there's some hints what Apocalypse might or might not bring. Kinberg (Vaughn) and Singer are a great creative team.
