For the latest Spider-Man film, Marc Webb decided to abandon the traditional comic book costume in favor of a black outfit. Jamie Foxx, who plays Max Dillon told BlackFilm, "They want to have it more grounded and not as comic book-y, so it won’t be green and yellow. They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down and trying to figure out what happened. How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff." Last week Comic Book Movie got exclusive concept art from the upcoming film The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and they're exquisite. One of the artists that helped create the look of the new costume is Keith Christensen and he shared some alternate takes on the villain's costume.
Christensen is a professional concept artist who's worked on big budget movies like X-Men: Days of Future Past, Man of Steel and Star Trek: Into Darkness.

Official The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Synopsis
"We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp."

It looks so much better than the comics. I still have no clue why some people are upset that the character is African American. He is Electricity! Kinda like the new Fantastic Four, He is Fire! Sorry to rant, I do love your site Maurice.
ReplyDeleteI didn’t know people were upset about it David. People are funny sometimes.
