Babylon 5 was a brilliant space opera television series created by writer and producer J. Michael Straczynski that aired in the min-90s. Telling the story of a remote space station and a number of alien races interacting he described it "as a five-year story, a novel for television." During season five, they had a made-for-TV movie called Babylon 5: Thirdspace about an ancient and powerful alien race that tries to destroy all life in the galaxy. The Artifact, the Thirdspace Aliens and their city were designed by artist Wayne D. Barlow

Wayne Barlowe is a professional concept artist who's worked on big budget movies like John Carter (2008), Avatar (2009) and Pacific Rim (2013) .

Official Babylon 5: Thirdspace Synopsis
A second feature-length adventure for the crew of Babylon 5. When an ancient relic is salvaged from hyperspace and brought aboard the space station, an Earth scientist (Shari Belafonte) arrives to study it. The relic soon affects the crew, as they begin to experience disturbing dreams containing images of vast ships and towers. The dreams increase in intensity, and more questions arise regarding the relic's true origins. Could it really be a life-threatening space trap?

  1. Great stuff. Isn't Barlowe the person who had that book of alien life that I loved.


    You probably don't know the answer to that. In my head, he put out kind of a sketchbook with the conceit that he was doing old style...


    Nevermind, I just looked it up. Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials. That's what I was thinking. So, is it that guy? If so, impressive.

  2. It is the same guy Rusty! He's pretty famous for his creature design, so even one-offs like this are impressive.
